Skipness, renowned for its 13th Century Castle and cemetary with old stones also has a superb section of beach.
The Seafood Cabin, member of the Seafood Trail sits just at the entrance near the castle so you can both access the beach through the land and eat aswell.
To access the beach at Skipness walk past the castle and down the track to the right and through the small turnstyle, proceed to the bottom and veer left and wander along through the next gate (shutting it behind you) to access a fantastic section of beach with stunning views across Arran. The beach is a real sun trap during hot summer days (wind direction depending) and is not used by many people.
There are also other sections of less sandy coastline between Skipness and Claonaig that can be easily accessed.
