Saddell is a small village on the east coast of Kintyre between Carradale and Peninver. Saddell is visited for several reasons, the main reason is for Saddell Abbey which has superb examples of burial stones hand carved dating back several hundred years.
Saddell also has Saddell Castle which is a fairly unique building, and today is still inhabited by a family.
Saddell bay is a wonderful golden sandy beach with views across to Arran which has access from the Castle grounds, but dont worry it is accepted that you can walk along the drive way to get access to the bay. The beach is where the 1977 hit Mull Of Kintyre by Paul McCartney's band Wings' video was filmed in part.
